Otter Rock and Roll – Youth Surf Contest

Held on International Surfing Day at Otter Rock State Park, this youth surf contest celebrates Newport’s laid-back surf culture with competitions, beach activities, and a full day on the coast.

Even if you’re not competing, it’s worth the short drive from Newport to watch surfers take on one of the Oregon Coast’s most iconic surf spots.

July 2–4, 2026

Newport’s Fourth of July celebration is one of the biggest summer weekends on the Oregon Coast, especially as the city joins the nationwide celebration of America’s 250th anniversary.

Journey Into the Amazon Basin at the Oregon Coast Aquarium

One of Newport’s newest attractions for 2026 is the Oregon Coast Aquarium’s immersive exhibit, Journey Into the Amazon Basin.

The exhibit takes visitors through five Amazon-inspired environments filled with dart frogs, piranhas, electric eels, caimans, and other rainforest species across thirteen interactive enclosures.

It’s included with general admission and makes a perfect stop during a summer coastal getaway.

Quilts by the Sea

July 31 – August 1, 2026

Held at the Newport Recreation Center, Quilts by the Sea showcases handmade quilts, coastal-inspired designs, and local craftsmanship from quilters across the region.

It’s a relaxed way to experience Newport’s creative side between beach walks and seafood dinners.
